The village is so close to the marina that we can confuse the both, however the both worth being visited. Grimaud village gives evidence of a long history started since gallo-roman period. In the XIth century, its sheer peak attracted strategist’s attention. This high spot dominated the St Tropez Bay and controlled the approaches from the north and the Maures Massif. So it underwent a defensive occupation very soon. Till the XVIIth century, the Grimaud castle ordered the Grimaud Bay called “Golfe de Grimaud” till the end of the XIXth century. .
